Memento Mori

A week ago, The Conversation published an article by Phillip George entitled Memento Mori. The article outlines the practice of taking the portrait of a person or animal who has recently died, and how the availability of photography (at relatively low cost) made it possible for more families to have a visual record of their loves ones who had passed away. Although there are only a few photographs reproduced in the article, they all have a distinct poignancy about them. They’re a reminder to each of us about our own mortality.
