In today’s issue of The West Australian, Camera Electronic has advertised the Canon EF 70–200 mm f/2.8 IS II lens for $2,544, as well as the Canon EOS 700D and the Nikon D7200 at special prices (and both with kit zoom lenses). If you’ve been waiting for a good price on this Canon lens, this is the cheapest I can remember seeing for it.
Looking at Camera Electronic’s current specials on-line, the Canon EOS 750D appears to be on special, too. I also see that the Nikkor AF-S 70–200 mm f/2.8 VR II is at $2,438 (after cashback from Nikon). This is an amazing price for a professional-grade lens like this, and beats the previous low price of $2,538 that I noticed last month.
Both the Canon and Nikon 70–200 mm lenses above are top notch, heavy duty lenses. At f/2.8, they’re still nowhere near as fast as the best prime lenses, but they do give you significant versatility with their focal length ranges and vibration reduction.
