It has been a relatively mild winter in Perth so far—mostly dry and not overly cold. I brought my camera along on a visit to the central business district, and took some pictures on a short walk. If you were to just look at these photographs, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a summer’s day. The images do not convey the brisk air.
I shot all of these photographs with my old Nikon D70S and Nikkor 18–70 mm lens. Know your equipment: although the lens does go out to 18 mm (on a 1.5x sensor), there is significant barrel distortion at that focal length with this particular lens. While you can correct for it to some degree with software, it is probably much better to use the 24 mm focal length on this lens. You will get significant less distortion while still retaining a relatively wide field of view.
